Job Description
The Department of Occupational Therapy at East Carolina University is seeking applications for a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for an entry-level Master of Science program with a recent 10-year ACOTE re-accreditation. A cohort of 26 students are admitted each fall, and the Department has five uniquely equipped labs dedicated to occupational therapy with ample equipment/supplies. The Department of Occupational Therapy is part of the College of Allied Health Sciences, which houses nine departments with programs at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Attached to the College is the medical library, which provides a librarian dedicated to supporting Allied Health faculty and students. All classrooms are technology-enhanced (e.g., SMART devices, video capture). The College is within the Division of Health Sciences, along with nursing, medicine, and dentistry. It is also adjacent to a 900-bed, level-1 trauma center, Vidant Medical Center, which offers multiple opportunities to partner with the 20-plus occupational therapy practitioners employed within their system. East Carolina University, with 27,000 students, is located in Greenville, North Carolina (population of 89,000). On the coastal plains, it has mild winters and is 90 miles from the beautiful Crystal Coast, the capital city of Raleigh, and the Research Triangle. It is within driving distance of Washington, DC, Myrtle Beach, and the Smokey Mountains. Faculty member responsibilities include teaching graduate courses, mentoring and advising graduate students in research projects and/or theses, actively engaging in scholarly research and funding, and participating in service projects at the university, community, and professional levels.
Minimum Qualifications
Occupational therapist with an earned post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy or a related field (PhD, ScD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, OTD, DrOT) Five years of clinical and/or teaching experience in pediatrics Eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the state of North Carolina.
