Associate Director-Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program - Concordia University Texas - Austin, TX

The Associate Director of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be charged with oversight of program implementation and delivery for all didactic, lab, and clinical experiences at distant sites, working in collaboration with the Dean of Professional Studies, the Director of the School of Nursing, and nursing faculty as a whole. This position will serve as the academic liaison for the distant site to work to coordinate academic consistency. This position supports the College and School of Nursing objectives of providing consistently high quality educational programs at the current Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) site and at future sites. In addition to serving as academic liaison for the existing site, the Associate Director will facilitate and coordinate communication for program expansion, operations and policy development, and working closely with the appropriate teams. This position will require work at the Austin Main Campus and off-site (clinical) locations.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Academics: Translate curriculum delivery across settings to maintain academic integrity, program outcomes, and student success.  Work with ABSN site to address site-specific situations and concerns that relate to curriculum and teaching.   Collaborate with the School of Nursing to ensure the curriculum is consistent at all site locations.  Assist site faculty in the understanding and interpretation of curriculum and departmental policies.  Interacts directly with students to elicit feedback, promote effective communication with the faculty, and hear first level student petitions and grievances.
 
  • Leadership: Interview and recommend qualified candidates for site faculty and staff positions. Evaluate lab and clinical faculty and make recommendations concerning reappointment.  Supervise all site faculty/staff on all matters concerning curriculum and teaching.
 
  • Communication: Design and support process improvements that enhance the quality and effectiveness of communication across ABSN sites.  Ensure that communication and implementation processes are in place to facilitate new site development as required.  Evaluate policy needs and communication strategies to enable effective and timely responses to communication and operational issues to ensure resolution.  Facilitate the development and maintenance of the relationship between ABSN sites and the School, College, and University.  Work in conjunction with the School of Nursing to review and develop programmatic policies as needed.  Collaborate with the Site Director on student orientation, course registration, career counseling, academic progress and degree completion requirements.  Maintain an active and effective liaison with contract employees at the sites
 
  • Strategic Planning:   Participate in the School of Nursing strategic planning process and contribute to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives related to on-line and distance programs.  Participate in program evaluation.  Assist in the process of compiling program data for accreditation and other official constituents.  Convene program meetings.  Work with the University administration and faculty to formulate effective long-term plans for expanding nursing education on-line and to new ABSN sites.
 
  • External Representation: Serve as a media expert.  Attend and participate in events as needed to promote the ABSN program.  Provide programmatic insight to the development and implementation of external recruitment plans for students and faculty to meet program growth needs.  Develop external professional relationships to enhance opportunities for nursing program expansion.  Serve as a liaison for communication among University departments and personnel at the clinical site.  Work cooperatively with all site nursing directors and nurse designees of partnering institutions as appropriate.  Represent the program to internal and external constituencies.
 
  • All other duties as assigned

                                                                
Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.  Earned Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas and ability to secure license within four months of employment.
  • Recent experience in nursing education with skills in professional and strategic development.
  • High level of proficiency in use of technology in nursing education.
  • Experience with planning and collaboration in developing projects.
  • Administrative background preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment to provide project oversight and strategic input.
  • Sound clinical background, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to inspire innovation in nursing education.
  • Ability to work with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of CTX

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May require non-traditional work hours including evening and weekend work
  • Sitting or standing at a computer 5-7 hours per day
