The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry invites applications for a full time, tenured position as Associate Professor/Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership in this dynamic Department, facilitate faculty mentoring and development, promote departmental and interdepartmental research, participate on the College’s leadership team and maintain University-wide collaborations. National leadership in dental education, research or the specialty is highly desired. The Department educates dental students and postgraduate specialty students in the discipline of Orthodontics. The Department’s large graduate program of 30 residents maintain a high quality clinical activity embracing contemporary therapies and digital technologies. The Head oversees a broadly inclusive research program that includes the Brodie Laboratory of Craniofacial Genetics. The College is located in one of the most comprehensive Carnegie Level-1 academic health sciences centers in the U.S.A, with a Cancer Center, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, and Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Applied Health Sciences, Public Health, and Social Work that serve a richly diverse community.
Requirements

Candidates must have a DDS/DMD (or equivalent) degree, have a substantial record of scholarship, extensive clinical experience and evidence of effective teaching. Graduation from an CODA-accredited advanced education program in Orthodontics, Diplomate status in the American Board of Orthodontics and eligibility for licensure in Illinois, is highly preferred. The successful candidate will have an active research program, experience such as leadership in teaching, mentoring, research and service with demonstrable experience in promoting an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
