The University of South Florida (USF) invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Dean, College of Nursing.
The USF College of Nursing is a world class program shaping the nursing profession and is an integral part of USF Health and the University of South Florida. Since its inception in 1973, the College has been committed to quality clinical care, nursing education at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and innovative research.
The success of the College of Nursing mirrors that of USF itself. In June 2016 the university, eighth largest among public universities in the U.S., was the first to be designated “Emerging Preeminent” by the governing body of the Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the state's universities. This designation is based on research funding and comes with significant additional state funding. The prospects for growth in faculty and academic programs for the College have never been more promising.
The Dean, College of Nursing will be expected to establish and communicate a compelling vision for the College that incorporates excellence and innovation in the tripartite mission inclusive of education, research, and service at an opportune time in USF Health's history. By further strengthening the academic and operational performance of the College of Nursing, and by helping develop USF's strategic partnerships, the Dean will continue to raise the profile of the school to be an international leader in the advancement of nursing science, education, practice and policy, attracting a top tier of faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows.
The Dean will exhibit the qualities required to be a successful leader in a complex, matrixed environment, including the ability to promote a strong collaborative culture both within the College and across the USF Health Campus.
The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized leader with a strong track record of academic excellence and professional accomplishment. He/she will have demonstrated success in leading an academic, clinical and research enterprise with the ability to foster programmatic growth through innovation, collaboration and technology development.
