At The George Washington University Hospital, we understand the challenges that new nurses face. The Nurse Internship is an on-boarding program for new RNs that can help you successfully make the transition from student to practicing nurse. We are looking for the best and the brightest, new nurses who know that working in healthcare is more than a job...it's a calling.
***We are currently accepting applications from new nurses, already graduated or graduating in May 2016***
Completed applications for this position will be evaluated by a nurse recruiter and considered for new graduate nurse opportunities in the General Surgery Unit.
Our new graduate RN position will be posted May 30th. It is common for the nurse recruitment team to conduct phone interviews and consider candidates during this entire time, as well as months after the posting is taken down, depending of new grad RN openings that may arise at a later date. It is highly recommended that new graduate RNs apply to this position only.
If selected, our process could include an initial phone interview, face-to-face department interviews, shadowing and an assessment by our nursing educators.
This is an entry level position to fulfill the needs of the patients, families, and community by performing a variety of patient care functions and tasks in accordance with his/her, training, and regulatory requirements under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an NLN or AACN School of Nursing by May 2015; BSN preferred
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater; transcripts required after gradu ation
  • RN license from the District of Columbia by July 25, 2016
  • Two letters of recommendation from nursing faculty or clinical supervisor
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification
  • Ability to make a 24-month full-time commitment
