Responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Staff Nurse provides nursing care to the patients of the clinical outpatient site for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This individual works under the direction of the physician/ faculty member.
CORE FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
· Assists the physician with duties related to the outpatient Ob/Gyn office, for example, take blood pressure, weight and enter information into the EMR.
· Works with CRNP's to provide intake instructions to the Obstetrical patient.
· When assigned to the Family Planning Division, interacts with patients that will require contraception instructions.
· Attends Family Planning Council meetings on an as needed basis.
· Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES needed in addition to Essential Functions:
· Oversees the Medical Assistants while working with them in the outpatient setting
· Ability to diffuse patient concerns before the Nurse Manager arrives
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:
Active RN license
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
This individual should have knowledge of Electronic Medical Record – Allscripts preferred
